Set to debut Thursday, Christina Greene's summer capsule highlights freshwater pearls.

Christina Greene is expanding  her eponymous label with a summer collection which is set to launch Thursday, July 21. Featuring freshwater pearls as the collection's centerpiece, owner and jewelry designer Greene-McAllen took inspiration from lazy seaside days and warm evenings under the Texas moon. 

Since the brand’s inception, Houstonians and jewelry fanatics know Christina Greene for its use of turquoise and semiprecious stones such as black onyx, labradorite, and lapis. Still, according to a press release, Greene-McAllen believes that pearls are the best neutral stone that brings a timeless touch of summer to every look. The collection, priced from $70 to $375, features 18K gold-plated brass necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and rings reflecting the best of this particular season.

In an interview, Greene-McAllen tells Houstonia that the mixture of pearl and yellow gold always brings summer to mind as they pair beautifully with crisp whites and colorful dresses. She adds that she drew inspiration from the touchstones of the season. For example, the Ray of Light Earrings channel the intensity and beauty of the summer sun. She also says summer has always been a special time for her and, now, with the addition of her daughter Marie, it's even more memorable.

"I've always spent summers traveling with my family and hope to have her grow up and experience the same," she tells Houstonia . "We recently took her on her first vacation to Crested Butte, Co. I'm so excited to see the places I've always loved in the summer through her eyes."

The Endless Summer collection is the first Christina Greene capsule to feature freshwater pearl, a gemstone more rare and durable than mother of pearl, casting a soft glow rather than an iridescent shine. Offering a mix of bold statement pieces like the Sunbeam Cuff and Ray of Light Earrings, the collection also includes pieces for every occasion, both daytime and evening looks. For those with a minimal style, look at the Luna Earrings and Stay Golden Necklace.

"While the mix of pearl and gold pairs seamlessly back to our existing collections, the brushed textures displayed in the Endless Summer styles, reminiscent of the sun reflecting off of the water, are unique to this capsule," Greene-McAllen says in a statement. 

Long gifted by loved ones and passed down for generations, pearls are classic, timeless, and romantic.

"Whether your definition of romantic is one associated with the love of a partner or embodies nostalgia for another time, this collection represents both views," Greene-McAllen tells Houstonia. 

"Alternatively, summer is fleeting. We often look back on our summer memories with a fondness or glow that we may not feel for other colder seasons of life, so in that sense, the Endless Summer collection serves as a reminder of more romantic times."
